From Glacier, we started our journey towards home. We were going to go right through Billings, MT so I thought it would be fun to call a good friend, Charlie Fritz, who moved to Billings many years ago. He is from Mason City and taught in Boone where I was his aide. One year he was pink slipped because he was a new teacher even though he was a super teacher. Charlie was called back, but he decided to pursue his art career which he has done quite successfully. One major project of his was to travel the Lewis and Clark trail and paint scenery as if he had been an artist with them. He created a book of his paintings and then toured with his collection. I have a signed copy of his book, and we were fortunate to attend one of his presentations in Mason City several years ago. Check these out to learn more about Charlie.
When we arrived in Billings we were greeted with this beautiful rainbow.
We were also greeted with my favorite aroma from the Russian Olive tree blossoms. It smelled soooooo nice. I got a twig of it so I could savor its elegance.
More importantly we were greeted by Charlie. His wife, Joan, was busy and couldn't join us, but we went to their favorite Mexican Food Restaurant where the food was delicious and the company was exemplary. We reminisced, got all caught up on our lives, and left with wonderful new memories of a good friend.
