Easter With JR's Family

Happy Easter to everyone. We began the day at the Easter Sunrise Service. One tradition is decorating a cross with lovely cut flowers which is so beautiful as you can see in the background. Amy, JR, and Max joined us which made it a special time.

Then there was a potluck breakfast with Easter baskets and an Easter egg hunt for the kids afterwards.
Max liked this bunny that was part of the center piece of our table.

Later we joined JR's family for a huge Easter meal and a casceronas party with a private Easter egg hunt for Max.

Good food.
I brought the chocolate cake since it was also my birthday.
This is a loaf of bread in the shape of a bunny which is something we like to give to JR's sisters to thank them for all their work fixing the meal for everyone.
Cascarones and confetti all over.

Max's first real Easter egg hunt. He caught on to the idea quickly after Mom taught him and everyone cheered him when he picked up an egg and again when he put it in the basket. He didn't care what was in the plastic eggs. Maybe next year.

Starving Artists Downtown San Antonio

After Susie and I helped to decorate the church in preparation for Easter Sunday, we went downtown to the Starving Artist Exhibits. We saw a lot of interesting things some of which we were asked not to take pictures which we honored. The area we visited is called La Villita which is an historical arts village with quaint art shops.

In the background you can see the Tower of the Americas which was built for the Hemisfair in the late 60's.

This is a flavor of the river walk.

This is the Q Bar at the Hyatt on the river where my niece, Erin, works.
We ate at Casa Rio, a Mexican food restaurant on the river walk. MMmmm good.

We made a few purchases, but we can't tell what they were. Oh I tried to get in the picture, not a very successful attempt.

Good Friday Visits

Good Friday was a holiday from school so Amy took Max to the doctor along with Grandma Susie. Afterwards we all gathered at Susie's and Erin was able to come by for a visit as well. We just hung out for some fun family time.

Max and Bluebonnets

This spring the bluebonnets, Texas's state flower, have been beautiful. One day on a walk in the neighborhood, there were some bluebonnets and Susie and I couldn't resist trying to get some Max/Bluebonnet pictures. We got a few to share.

OK. I've had enough. Get me out of here!!!!
