Washington Oaks State Park Coquina Rock

After the Citrus Festival we drove across the highway to another area of the Park which features coquina rock on the ocean side. Coquina rock is rock made of shells and sand and has been eroded from the water. They are very interesting to see, and sometimes there is wildlife in the tide pools, but not today.

A different kind of wild life here.

Hopefully you can see the conglomorate of shells here.

Another form of wild life.

If you look closely you can see my Valentine for all of you.

Another amazing thing in this area is the fact that these right whales travel down the coast here and sometimes you can see them. We were lucky one day and saw them, but I'm always looking for them as we drive along the road that borders the ocean shore. Friday we plan to go to a talk at another park to learn more about the right whales.
