GROUP Gathering Nov. 2011

Part of our planning our return trip from Hawaii was dependent on my GROUP scheduling a much needed fall gathering. GROUP is my group of friends I have had since living in Boone, IA in the 70's. We call ourselves the GROUP (Great Remarkable Outstanding People) or (Getting Ridiculous Our Utmost Priority.) Anyway it's our girlfriend weekend that I treasure enough to shorten my Hawaii trip by one day so we had this weekend together. It worked out very nicely. Since they all met in Mason City, they took I-90 to South Dakota, took the airport exit in Sioux Falls, picked up Bob and me at the airport, and drove us to our host's, Gina's, just west of Sioux Falls where our car was (thanks to Gina picking it up for us and storing it while we were in Hawaii.) Then Bob drove home and I stayed and had fun with my GROUP. Bob picked me up at the end of our get together.

Gina, the best cook in the world, fixed a lovely, delicious pre Thanksgiving dinner for us. After our arrival, she did put us to work. Pat was assigned the carving of the chickens. She did great. We had a feast. MMMmmmm Good!!!!

That night we did presentos. Some of us give little gifts to each other. You never know who will presnt gifts or what the gifts will be. It's always pretty interesting. This time I gave some San Antonio fiesta shopping bags and blue bonnet mugs. Next morning here we are with our bags getting ready for the shopping at the Lutheran/Scandinavian Church bazaar in Sioux Falls. I think we filled the bags with all kinds of things. We also went to the arts and crafts/flea market at the fairgrounds in Sioux Falls.

As part of the bazaar, they have a cafeteria style meal featuring Scandinavian food. We do have to stand in line for a while, but it's worth it.

Here's Pat enjoying pickled herring.
Here we are sharing some of the treasures we got after we got home.

We always have snacks around even though Gina feeds us well. We had French dip sandwiches when we got home from the bazaar and flea market.
Gina bought these pheasant earrings we found at the flea market. They were very nice and she got them at a good bargain.
We also enjoy Margueritas. Gina found these glasses to serve them in.
Here we are on Gina's porch getting ready to say good-bye until we meet again. Notice the blue sky, almost as nice as Hawaii, just a little cooler.
Thanks Gina for being such a good hostess. Thanks to Chris, Pat, Polly, and Marilyn for your friendships.
