Christmas In Florida

We arrived in Ormond Beach Dec. 1 and have been enjoying Florida weather.  It was pretty warm in Dec. and we did not miss Iowa's wintry weather at all.

Flagler Beach is a nearby town on the ocean, just down the road a bit.  They have what they call Music in the Park the first Friday of every month so we were there for the one in Dec.  We did have to wear a jacket, but otherwise it was a very nice night.  They have vendors and entertainment, and if you want, you can get a bite to eat which we did.  It's a nice community event that brings people out.  Of course, since it was Dec. there was a Christmas theme with Santa Claus and the lighting of the Christmas decorations.  The entertainment was the local high school choirs performing Christmas type music.  Here we are sitting enjoying the evening.

Charlene, Sandi who is a friend and neighbor, and Bob.

Here I am joining Charlene and Sandi.

Another fun time in Florida is when they have their Christmas Decorated Boat Parade.  We dressed up and went to a nice restaurant on the Intra Coastal Waterway which is where they have the parade.

Here we are ready to go.

We got a nice table outside so we could get a good view of the boats going down the intra coastal.  Can you see the boats docked in the back ground?  It's a marina.  The seats of our table swing like a porch swing.  Fun.  We also had a great view of the boats going down the river / intra coastal waterway.

Does the food look good?  It was.

It's hard to get a good picture of the boats when it's dark.  But hopefully you can get an idea of what the boats look like.  There were probably about 24 boats.  You don't see this in Iowa.  Wait, maybe at the lakes.

The restaurant we went to.  Great time.

The church where we go here in Florida, Grace Lutheran Church, joined other Lutheran churches in the area to sing some Christmas songs at the mall so we decided to go be in the audience.  It put you in the Christmas mood.

Christmas isn't Christmas without Christmas lights.  Right?  A nearby community, Palm Coast,  displays some really nice lights in one of their nice parks.   There is a path that goes around a pond, and the decorations are all along the path.  To begin the evening we ate at the food trucks that were parked in the parking lot at this park. I had a delicious spinach pie.  People were eating fried fish, hamburgers, gyros, hot dogs, etc.  We weren't especially impressed with the truck food, but some did not show up because of the cooler weather and one had a truck break down, the cupcake one.  That was really too bad.   It was a little chilly, but we managed.  Not as cold as Iowa.

This is the entrance to the park where the light displays were.

Charlene got a guided tour from this nice young man who was happy to take her around the path with this fancy golf cart.  Fun for both of them.

They had a series of displays depicting the 12 days of Christmas.  Seven Swans a Swimmin' was my favorite.  Surprised?
