Gavins Point Dam

We took a road trip one weekend to go to a wine festival which was fun. Afterwards we decided to drive a little further to see Gavins Point Dam which is the last dam on the Missouri River. Although the water released at the dam was to control flooding above and below the dam, it didn't prevent the long term flooding down river in Sioux City, Omaha, Missouri, etc. Here you can see the water at the dam still quite turbulent even though they had started to release less water. By now they are releasing even less and the river in Sioux City is almost within its banks. But now the clean up is beginning. It was amazing to see all the water and how turbulent it was.
