Meals From the Heartland

In Des Moines, for the past 4 years, there has been an event called Meals from the Heartland. Their goal is to feed millions of people in our country and in third world countries. This year the goal was to feed 4 million people. We feel like this is such a great cause that we have participated 3 of those 4 years. We work with a group of 10 people to package meals made up of soy protein, dried veggies, vitamins, and rice. Each package feeds 6 people. Each box holds 36 packages. We volunteered for 2 shifts and we helped package a total of 32 boxes. We also donated money to the cause. Between our volunteering and our donation, we figured we helped to feed about 11,900 people so we feel pretty good. It is just a dent in the problem of world hunger, but it makes a difference to the people who receive the food.

They take pictures to prove you were there so here's our proof.
