Bob's Dentists Visits

While in San Antonio, Bob decided to get his teeth cleaned and to get an exam. It was discovered that he needed a lot of dental work. After talking to the minister at Susie's church, and the church where we are going, he recommended going to a dentist in Mexico just over the border of Del Rio. The minister and his wife go there and were very pleased with his work and prices. So off we have been going daily to Mexico to have the dentist adventure. Since Susie was gone for a librarian conference, I was able to join Bob on his adventure. So far we have gone Wed, Thurs, Fri, and have appointments. for Sat. and Mon. And there are more appointments to come. We drive to Del Rio, about a 3 hour drive. Then we park in a protected parking lot just before the border. Then we walk about 1/2 to 3/4 a mile to the border where we pay a 75 cent toll to cross the bridge. Then we walk about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile across the bridge and the Rio Grande River. On the Mexico side we just walk down the street a few blocks to the dentist's office. While Bob gets his dental work done, I read, do Sudoku puzzles, and shop a little. Then we walk back. On the Mexico side we pay a 30 cent toll to cross the bridge. We have only paid the actual 30 cents once. The first time the guy at the gate asked for 40 cents. And today we put coins in, but Bob thought we could put in 2 quarters and a dime equalling a total of 60 cents instead of putting in 30 cents at a time for one person at at time so he ended up having to pay an extra quarter to get the turnstiles to work. Live and learn. Anyway on the American side we have to go through customs, declare anything we have, and show our passports. It is really quite simple. Then we walk back to the car and drive back to San Antonio, another 3 hours. Anyway it does take most of the day, but Bob is getting a LOT of dental work done so hopefully that'll be all he needs for quite a while. And we are getting some good exercise . And the weather has been fantastic!!!!!

Poster on the dentist's door advertising the Running of the Bulls which is a celebration going on this weekend Thurs. thru Sat. They closed off one of the roads and put up barriers, and that's where they let the wolves roam and people get in and run with them. I do not plan to witness this event although it is within sight of the doctor's office if I walked about half a block to watch. Not me. But I thought it was interesting.
