Last Sat. March 28, Bob and I drove to Ingram, TX, about an hour's drive from San Antonio, to visit some friends from Pomeroy. John and Joann Hubbeling moved to Texas from Pomeroy about 25 years ago. Joann is originally from Texas so I guess it was natural for them to settle here. John does appliance repair work even at the age of 80. Both John and Joann were great hosts and tour guides during our visit. I felt like I had known them for years myself. They took us on an auto tour of the Guadalupe River including the river's source. It was beautiful. Then they took us to Hunt, TX where the Hacienda, the famous rehabilitation facility recommended by Dr. Phil, is located. Also, there is a replica of Stonehenge (about 2/3 the size of the one in England.) At the same location are replicas of the statues at Easter Island. All very interesting. A local man wanted a huge rock on a field and set it upright there. Then the wheels turned and he got another man to help him construct the Stonehenge and Easter Island replicas. They are actually made out of chicken wire and cement, but they look quite real. After our auto tour we ate at a nice restaurant overlooking the Gualalupe River. It was very relaxing and enjoyable. Bob did a few magic tricks for them at the restaurant and then when we went back to their place he did some more. Before we knew it the night settled in and after a very nice visit we headed back to SanAntonio with very pleasant memories and hopes to visit again.
