Boston And the Red Sox Game

My brother, who is the oldest of all us siblings, turned 70 this year so we asked him what was on his bucket list with the idea we could all celebrate his "coming of age" in a special way.  Well it turns out he's a big Red Sox fan, and he's always wanted to go to Boston to  to see the Red Sox play at Fenway Park.  So that's what we did.  We met in Boston on Sept. 20, did some tourist things, some took a tour of Fenway Park, some attended a print show where Eric had a print on exhibit, (we) saw some Florida friends, saw the Red Sox game, and did our Christmas gift exchange, minus mine.  It was a great time.

Here we are meeting up at the Embassy Suites in Boston.

When we gathered in Portland this summer, I arrived first and had a nice reception ready for them.  This time we arrived last so they provided the nice reception.  It's a nice way to start a great time together.  Here's what greeted us.
My brother-in-law and Nancy's husband, Eric, has a hobby doing printing the old fashioned way.  He created a poster that was selected for an exhibit that was in the Boston area while we were there so Bob and I joined them to see his and others' work.  It was very interesting and amazing how these works or art are created.  The exhibit was at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown, a suburb of Boston.  We took public transportation there and it was no problem.  Here are Eric and Nancy.

This is his poster.  Quite clever, I think, and shows a variety of  styles, etc.

Information telling about Eric and his exhibit.

These are some Florida friends who live in Hudson, MA just about a 45 min. drive to Watertown, so they joined us at the center to enjoy the exhibit and to have a little "friend" time while Nancy and Eric did their thing.  We met them in the swimming pool at Fitness One, our gym in Florida.  It was fun to catch up with them.

Eating at the nearby Panera right there at the Art Center.

While were were at the art center, everyone else took a tour of Fenway Park and did a trolley tour of Boston.  Then we met up at Fenway Park for the Red Sox game.  Here we are waiting for our regrouping.

This is the old fashioned score board that they still use.

Here is the new tron where they show a lot of fun stuff.

Here we are at the stadium, getting ready for the game.  Notice we all are wearing our new Family Tree hoodies.

This is a picture they took and bought when they toured Fenway Park.  Pretty nice picture.
Individual pictures to prove we were all there.

The day after the game we rode an on/off bus to see Boston.  One place we stopped was to see The USS Constitution or Old Ironsides.

Sights in a park.

Of course we had to visit the Cheers Bar and Grill.  We even ate lunch there.  It was good and quite reasonable.

This is the Cheers set where you can actually go and have a drink and  maybe everyone will know your name.
Patsy and Norm.

This was a neat square with a reflecting pond and fountains along with views of some neat buildings.

Gary, Rosemary, Bob and I decided to take a harbor boat tour which came with our ticket for the on/off bus.

A good view of Old Ironsides from the boat.

There was a huge swimming pool along the shore.  There were about 3 of these.  I'd love to swim here.

That night we had a family Christmas exchange.  I wasn't prepared so I'll be sending my gifts later.  I was worried I wouldn't be able to stuff everything into my suitcases, but I did manage.  Whew!!!

Eric printed one of these for each of us.
The Christmas loot.

Then it was time to leave the Embassy Suites and head out for our New England cruise.
