Aunt Berta's 90th

Sometimes you get to be in the right  place at the right time.  This time it was for my Aunt Berta's 90th birthday.  I always make a point of visiting her when in San Antonio and this year was no exception.  This year Patsy and Kathy, along with Susie and Erin, were so happy to take Aunt Berta out for dinner to help celebrate her special birthday.  A special addition to our group was Debbie Castro, our cousin (Uncle Scott's daughter) who lives in Austin.  She wanted to come down to visit all us sisters, and she was lucky enough to  combine a visit with us and being able to help celebrate the special occasion for our aunt.  It was great to see her.  Cousin Roy joined us too, whether he wanted to or not.  He was in the right place at the right time too.

Aunt Berta and Debbie.  Debbie got her a nice garden bird water bath.  Berta has a lovely garden so I know she'll find a nice spot for this gift.

Cousin Roy with my sisters, Kathy and Patsy.  Roy was at his mom's house working on her swimming pool when we all came to pick her up for her 90th birthday lunch.  So he joined us.  7 women and him.  How could he resist?

It was so nice that Erin was able to join us.  Here she is with Susie, her mom.

The group.  It's a blurry picture.  The waitress took the picture, but I don't think she was much of a photographer.  Oh well.  Happy Day.

Saturday, after Kathy and Patsy had already left, Sally hosted an official 90th birthday celebration for her mom.  I'm so glad she did and that I was able to go.  I got to visit with relatives I don't get to see very often.

Here are cousins, Becky and Beth who drove down from Mansfield in the Ft. Worth area.

Here is Becky with Aunt Berta, and that's Beth's husband, Richard.  He drove them down from Mansfield.

Here's Susie with  Mac, a good family friend, Roy's friend, and I guess Susie's.  I guess she hung out with Mac and Roy in their younger days, even though they are Aggies and she's a Longhorn.  Texans figure out how to get along no matter what.

Roy gave the birthday toast, but he's not in the picture, but we are all facing him so you know where he is.  Sally is on the far right.  Happy Birthday, Aunt Berta.

This is a nice picture of Aunt Berta with Sally's three daughters, from left to right, Stephanie, Rose, and Angie.  It was fun to see them.  I don't think I've seen them since they were little kids.  It was fun to catch up with everyone.

 Becky, Aunt Berta, and Sally.

I know for a fact that Berta has many interesting stories to tell.  She lived through WW II in Germany and has some great stories of her life during that time.  She must be telling Beth a really interesting story.

Sally served a very delicious Middle Eastern meal.  I wish I  had had  a larger stomach to eat more than what I was able to eat.  It was soooo good.  For birthday cakes, she made a delicious carrot cake and a delicious lemon cheese cake.  MMMmmmm good.  Sally must have inherited her cooking expertise from her mother.  Aunt Berta is a wonderful cook.

I love this picture of Angie.

Four generations.  I was so happy that Amy and Max were able to join us for this celebration.

A rare family group picture.  From left to right, Roy, Susie, Stephanie in the back and Sally in the front, Mac, Beth, Aunt Berta, Richard in the back and Becky in the front.
