Visit in San Antonio With Sisters and Extended Family Fiesta Week Edition

One day we went to the art fair.  There were lots of neat things there.  This was one of them.

We ran into some of the Fiesta royalty.  They were very happy to pose for us.

We visited the nearby library.  This is a royalty train that is on display there.  There are more at the Witte Museum.

This was this year's official Fiesta design used on everything including the Tshirts.

Glass sculpture.

Window with glass beads as a commemoratin to Linda Pace of Pace Picquanti Sauce.

Another day we went to A Taste of New Orleans.  Here is a crawdad that Kathy found.

We ate and enjoyed the entertainment provided.

Some of the royalty that were presented.

Since the Japanese Tea Gardens were right there, after we left Taste of New Orleans, we visited the beautiful gardens.

One night we volunteered at a booth at NIOSA, Night In Old San Antonio.  We made shrimp poor boys.  NIOSA is famous for eating, drinking, and entertainment.  At the peak times, it is so crowded that you can't even move.  You just have to go with the flow and hope for the best.  But this year it was not the best weather and after our volunteer shift, we were actually able to walk around for a little bit.

For sanitary reasons, we had to wear hair covering.  I chose the bonnet, Patsy and Susie chose the ball cap, and Kathy chose the hair net that you can hardly tell that she has it on.

The Tower of Americas is in the background.

Another day we went to the market downtown where there was the Rey Feo event.  This is the name of one of the royalty.  You eat, shop, and listen to really loud music.  It was fun.

There are a lot of parades during Fiesta Week.  We were going to go to the River Parade, but instead we went to one of Susie's friend's River Parade Party.  You eat and drink and watch the parade.  Or maybe you just visit and have a good time and peek at the parade from time to time.  There is also the Battle of Flowers Parade, almost like the Rose Parade, and the night time Flambeau Parade.  We watched them on TV too.  You get really good seats and you don't have to fight the crowds and traffic or the down pour of rain, which happened with the Flambeau Parade.

We sisters had a great time being together for Fiesta Week.  We agreed it was the most we had ever participated in the Fiesta Week events.
